Pink Mountaintops
Pink Mountaintops is a project from Stephen McBean (of Black Mountain) plus a bunch of other contributors that's more folky and experimental than Black Mountain's brand of stoner rock. It's friendly and warm, and the first single from the new album, Outside Love (due out May 5 from Jagjaguwar), "Vampire" has a lovely, tired string section. This isn't exactly material from Twilight; it's more of an ode to a comedown. To be honest, though, I'm more in tune with "While We Were Dreaming", which features Ashley Webber on vocals. It's dreamier (as the title might imply) and more languid of a song, which makes for a perfect lazy Sunday.
