Trees

Trees were an English psych folk group from the 70s, and the obvious point of comparison would be the Fairport Convention, a band I consider among my favorites. They only put out two albums, both in 1970, to middling reviews and poor album sales. I dig it though, especially "Fool" from On the Shore which has a great melody that Metallic Falcons wished they had come up with, and a killer guitar line towards the end. Layers of witch-like voices in front of dizzying bass and guitar parts. "Murdoch" is considered one of their best songs, with just Celia Humphis's strong voice over an acoustic guitar for the first minute. It builds from there to a gorgeous journeying song about being fooled.
