Strawberry Alarm Clock
Strawberry Alarm Clock were a psych pop group from LA in the last 60s. I'm not sure how much of their personality was molded by a record company trying to cash in on the emergent popularity of psychedelia (their name is a take on "Strawberry Fields Forever"), but none of that stuff ultimately matters. It sounds like it wants to be the Beach Boys, with a dose of Ray Manzarek on the side. "Incense and Peppermints" was their big hit, but I also really dig "Good Morning Starshine" and the bossa-nova of "Barefoot in Baltimore."

Their stuff is mainly available now on Best-Of comps, but these are pretty solid. Also fans of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls will recognize these folks - they had a cameo in that movie.
